Waterfront Park

The Coast Guard Half Marathon is scenic, flat, and fast! Beginning downtown, the run will take you along the riverfront (by Coast Guard Park and the Sailing Center). after that, runners will loop through the U.S. Coast Guard Base and Air Station including on the runway, and finally return to the historic downtown district running past Elizabeth City State University, a historically black college and the only four-year collegiate aviation education program in North Carolina.

  • 10 mileish on the half

Water & Aid Stations

  • 8 aid stations approximately every 2 miles along route offering water and replacement drink
  • Restrooms will be at each of the 8 aid stations
  • 2 medical tents located along the race route
  • 1 food stop at approximately 8-10 mile point

Athlete Amenities

All registered half marathon athletes will receive a race shirt and a virtual goodie bag.

All half marathon finishers will receive a medal, heatsheet, and finish line refreshments.

Rules & Regulations

Age Restrictions
Athletes must be 12 years or older on race day in order to register for the half marathon.

Time Limit
We encourage the seasoned and first time marathoners (including walkers) alike to take part. There will be a cut-off pace of 16 minutes/mile for the full and half marathon. For the safety of our participants, any runner who is unable to maintain that pace will be picked up and brought back to the start/finish area.

Safety on the Course
No animals, no strollers, no baby joggers, no bicycles, no scooters, no inline skates, no roller skates, and no wheeled vehicles (other than official Bike EMS and Patrol Teams) will be allowed on the course. Strollers and baby joggers are allowed for the 5K event only.

Bib Pick-Up

What You Need:
You must present a photo ID and know your bib number in order to pick up your bib. Bib numbers will be issued in late February, and you may either look them up ahead of time, or look them up at the designated Bib Number Look-Up station at the Expo.

If you are unable to attend the Expo yourself, you must make arrangements for a representative to pick up your bib for you. Your representative must present a copy of your photo ID and their own photo ID. Representatives who do not have these things will not be able to pick up your bib, no exceptions.

Awards

Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in the following categories:

Overall | Active Duty Military | Wheeled Division | Mobility Impaired

Additionally, awards will be given to the top three finishers in each age group.
14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+
